Jubilee wants CS to control land – Kingi

JUBILEE wants the Malindi MP seat so it can monopolise land powers, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said.

Campaigning for ODM’s Willy Mtengo at Kakuyuni trading centre on Tuesday, he said Jubilee wants to increase its numbers to “push for the Land Bill”.

“Devolution vested all powers of land to the people,” Kingi said.

“But because Jubilee is against devolution, they intend to vest all the powers in the Lands CS.”

Kingi said this will take the Coast “back to the dark days of injustice”.

Mtengo will face off with Jubilee’s Phillip Charo in the March 7 by-election.

Kingi said President Uhuru Kenyatta is pushing for new land laws to frustrate Coastal residents on landownership.

He said if the bill becomes law, the Lands CS shall have powers to revoke any land meant for the people.

Kingi, the county ODM chairman, accused Jubilee of interfering with counties during Uhuru’s Coast tour.

He said Uhuru initiated lighting and water projects that should be under county control “to intimidate county governments”.

Sovereign and Living God; Grant Hon, Raila Amolo Odinga Solomonic Wisdom; and All Kenyans of Goodwill Greater Patriotism!!

A Prayer for Help:

“Oppose those who oppose me, LORD, and fight those who fight against me! Take your shield and armour and come to my rescue.

· Lift up your spear and your axe against those who pursue me. Promise that you will save me. May those who try to kill me be defeated and disgraced! May those who plot against me be turned back and confused!

· May they be like straw blown by the wind as the angel of the LORD pursue them! May their path be dark and slippery while the angel of the LORD strikes them down!

· Without any reason they laid a trap for me and dug a deep hole to catch me. But destruction will catch them before they know it; they will be caught in their own trap and fall to their destruction!

· Then I will be glad because of the LORD; I will be happy because he saved me. With all my heart I will say to the LORD, “There is no one like you. You protect the weak from the strong, the poor from the oppressor.”

· Evil people testify against me and accuse me of crimes I know nothing about. They pay me back evil for good, and I sink in despair.

· But when they were sick, I dressed in mourning; I deprived myself of food; I prayed with my head bowed low, as I would pray for a friend or a brother. I went about bent over in mourning, as one who mourns for his mother.

· But when I was in trouble, they were all glad and gathered round to mock me; strangers beat me and kept striking me. Like those who would mock a cripple, they glared at me with hate.

· How much longer, LORD, will you just look on? Rescue me from their attacks; save my life from these lions! Then I will thank you in the assembly of your people; I will praise you before them all.

· Don’t let my enemies, those liars, gloat over my defeat. Don’t let those who hate me for no reason smirk with delight over my sorrow. They do not speak in a friendly way; instead they invent all kinds of lies about peace-loving people.

· They accuse me, shouting, “We saw what you did!” But you, O LORD, have seen this. So don’t be silent, LORD; don’t keep yourself far away! Rouse yourself, O LORD, and defend me; rise up, my God, and plead my cause.

· You are righteous, O LORD, so declare me innocent; don’t let my enemies gloat over me. Don’t let them say to themselves, “We are rid of him! That’s just what we wanted!”

· May those who gloat over my suffering be completely defeated and confused; may those who claim to be better than I am be covered with shame and disgrace.

· May those who want to see me acquitted shout for joy and say again and again, “How great is the LORD! He is pleased with the success of his servant.” Then I will proclaim your righteousness, and I will praise you all day long.”

· Romans 8:31 (Good News Bible): “In view of all this, what can we say: If God is for us, who can be against us? Certainly not God, who did not even keep back his own Son, but offered him for us all! He gave us his Son – will he not also freely give us all things?”

‘Kenya Needs a Coup’ Tweet Lands Mohammed Ali in Trouble

moha ali

KTN‘s investigative journalist Mohammed Ali has once again sparked an online rage, after he seemingly okayed a tweet stating: ‘Kenya needs a coup NOW!’

The outspoken journalist was criticised by a section of Kenyans for retweeting the contentioius post, which they said could cause anarchy in the country.

The retweeted post by Ali was a rejoinder from a tweep who was weighing in on a twitter exchange between Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and Majority Leader Aden Duale over corruption in the Judiciary and Parliament.

Mr Ali’s retweet of the tweet –  In this exchange @HonAdenDuale & @WMutunga confirm that all arms of government are CORRUPT. Kenya needs a coup NOW! – got him termed ‘irresponsible and unpatriotic’ with some demanding an apology.

The two leaders clashed after Duale responded to Mutunga’s admission that there was corruption at the Judiciary citing that: “Now CJ can confirm that the judiciary and supreme in particular is full of graft”.

The CJ, however, responded to Duale stating that: “I can confirm the Judiciary will never reach the graft levels achieved by Parliament”.

Matatu crew ‘lock up’ traffic cop for demanding Sh10,000 bribe on Thika Superhighway

A traffic policeman was locked inside a matatu along Thika Superhighway for allegedly demanding Sh10,000 from the crew on Wednesday morning.

The officer attached to Pangani Traffic Base reportedly flagged down the Nazigi Sacco PSV at Survey of Kenya area and asked for the cash, but did not state the offense committed.

“I know him. He told me he needed fees for his children whom he said go to a school in Machakos,” said the tout who sought anonymity for fear of intimidation.

“I pleaded with him and told him I have married from his Ukambani backyard but he did not listen. He arrested us at 7am and took us around for more than an hour before we parted with Sh2,000.”

The conductor said he mobilised other matatus which blocked the road near General Service Unit headquarters.

“I asked the officer to return my money but he refused. I told him I had marked the money. When he saw the markings he immediately dropped the notes,” he said.

A witness said the officer escaped and boarded a matatu bound for Baba Dogo.

Pangani traffic boss Jennifer Mutuku said she was not aware of the incident.

Bridge schools ‘not registered’ since 2009

The Bridge International Academies are not registered as required, yet they have operated since 2009, an Education ministry official has said.

Speaking at a Nairobi hotel yesterday, quality assurance deputy director Susan Njau told 12 education players Bridge has not adhered to policy guidelines.

She cited the rules on Alternative Provision of Basic Education and Training.

However, Bridge co-founder Shannon May said they are not opposed to the regulations.

“We are waiting for the regulations to be gazetted, and we shall register afresh,” she said.

Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion said the UN has criticised the growing numbers of corporate-backed for-profit schools like Bridge.

“The World Bank, which supports Bridge, should invest in public education,” Sossion said in a joint statement from the civil society.

Bomet MP Cecilia Ngetich said Bridge is a “necessary evil” because public primary schools are few in slums.

Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki said institutions like Bridge are filling the gap in places like Mathare, which has only two public primary schools.

How many times now for Uchumi?

The collapse of Imperial Bank and imminent collapse of Uchumi could have been avoided if we learnt past lessons. In 1990’s, a company called Enron Corporation grew from zero to the 7th biggest company in the world in less than 10 years. When it imploded in 2004, it was found that its accounts had been manipulated by the top management with the connivance of its auditors, Arthur Andersen, then a global auditing giant, and the company’s lawyers. The company collapsed, the auditors folded up and many law firms involved closed. Those culpable went to jail and paid fines of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Back home, if a company is listed at NSE and later found that its books are cooked, the company’s management, Board, auditors and their lawyers ought to be held accountable, indicted and made to refund for all losses and shareholders investment. CMA should also blacklist all transaction advisers of a company that collapses within three years of listing.
It is only when professional accountability is called that companies in Kenya will never cook their accounts again. It is sad that we have seen or seeing the collapse of Imperial Bank, Kenya Airways, Transcentury Group, Uchumi et al yet they got and are listed at Nairobi Stock Exchange.
Here is how one Phil Wesonga captured the shocking revelations that Uchumi cooked its Financial Statements>>>

They will tell you Homa Bay born Evans Kidero is incompetent, that he bribed a supreme court judge and that cannot manage garbage collection in Nairobi. They will trend silly hashtags and raise opinion count questions for that on prime time news. But they wont tell you Murang’a born Jonathan Ciano led a systematic looting of Uchumi Supermarkets going as a far as falsifying financial statements to hide embezzlement of upwards of Sh1 billion. Before Ciano came along, Uchumi had created other multi-billionaires who share genes with Ciano and are today flaunting their ill gotten wealth at the NSE.
